However, this practice of using high inputs to increase yields eventually led to irrational application of synthetic fertilizers, pesticides and irrigation, ultimately resulting in microbial degradation of soil, residual pesticide effects and ground water pollution due to heavy leaching of chemicals in to the aquifers. The situation got aggravated year after year cutting down the revenues to farmers and sometimes reaching to alarming situation.
